Watercolor Portraits by Brenda Duke

I specialize in painting watercolor portraits from your favorite photograph, primarily of infants and children,
but enjoy painting people of all ages . . . and furry family members, too! Because of its soft and transparent qualities,
I find watercolor to be the ideal medium for painting children.
My goal is not only to paint an accurate likeness, but to capture the subject's spirit and personality . . . and, of course,
result in a beautiful work of art to treasure forever.
Most everyone has many wonderful photos of their children they would like to display, and even though the expression is
captivating, the rest may not be perfect (hair, background, etc.) . . . Not to worry! All of that can be transformed in the
painting. What's most important is that particular expression that you would like to preserve.
I especially enjoy working from candid shots, those that capture a special moment . . . a moment of pure joy and delight,
or simply an expression unique to that child.
A portrait captures a moment in time like nothing else. Photographs can fade, get tossed in boxes and be forgotten . .
. a portrait is a family heirloom that gets passed down through generations.
